Another French player brought back to the club to steady the ship. Attempts to bring in an overseas player to shore up the loosehead side of the scrum last season badly misfired; at least with Patrice the coaches know exactly what they are going to get. The biggest shame is why he ever had to leave in the first (yes, another fine mess, Uncle Tom). He appears to have an important role (along with PV) of mentoring and nurturing the young props in the squad.
