2005-6 Profile Compiled: 11th November 2005 Brought back to ensure that there was no repetition of the woeful goalkicking witnessed last season, to label Ludo as merely a points accumulating machine is a touch unfair. His kicking from hand gives an enormous boost to the pack, and he has shown that he can get the backs moving.
Yes, he can stand too deep in the pocket making it difficult for the midfield to cross the gain line, but he has possibly received more than his fair share of criticism for the problems in this area of the field (HP and HRH are not entirely blameless). His defence is still not the best, but it is considerably improved since his last spell at the club.
The bottom line is that he will win us an awful lot of games that we certainly would have lost last year. It is also still hard to get rid of the memory of the look on that tosser’s face (Squeaky, to his mates) when Ludo knocked over the last gasp conversion from the left to snatch victory away from a Newcastle side that had done everything to win the game. In terms of special moments at Kingsholm that I have witnessed, that rates up there with the Leicester evening game when Mapletoft did much the same (Phil Greening try, I think). Sheer exhilaration. Ludo! Ludo! Ludo!
